Super Mario Bros. 3
Japanese copies of Super Mario Bros. 3 included a letter from the creators expressing their gratitude towards the player for purshacing their game. It also includes some notes about what the player can expect, and alludes to the existance of the Warp Whistles!
To Mario's Players
Thank you very much for purchasing "Super Mario Bros. 3".
We have heard the requests of all the fans and have created Super Mario Bros. 3 to be much more fun and new than previous games in the series.
In addition to being an action game, this time there is also a map screen which introduces minor board game styled elements. The 2-player mode will also feel a little different compared to how it was previously. Furthermore, each player continues separately so that a 2-player game can be enjoyed for as long as desired. Course panels that have been cleared can also be freely crossed until one uses a continue, so both players can work together towards clearing a course.
Otherwise, this journey will be filled with many puzzles and traps. Just what kind of mysteries await Mario and Luigi? Please have fun finding out.
Yours faithfully, 1988.10.23 Mario's Staff
P.S. Unfortunately due to the lack of battery backup capabilities each time the power is turned off you will have to once again start from the beginning. However, there are "whistles" hidden somewhere in the courses that we think may be able to help you.
